Couples often settle into stable and cyclical routines in their interactions. When these patterns are unhealthy ad it can be toxic to the relationship. Upsetting and damaging circumstances such as infidelity, financial ruin, addiction, loss, or major life transitions shake the foundation of other couples. However, some couples simply seek to build on already healthy relationships by cultivating a greater level of intimacy. Whatever the reason, I can help couple move toward a healthier and more satisfying marriage relationship.
Start your marriage on the right track! I offer comprehensive pre-marriage counseling that is designed to prepare couples for important aspects of marriage. Thorough testing helps couples to identify areas where they are vulnerable to future discord. In premarital therapy, couples cultivate important relationship skills including healthy communication and conflict resolution. We seek to equip couples with the skills that they will need to establish and preserve a satisfying marriage that will stand the test of time.
Grief and Loss Counseling
The loss of a loved one can be one of the most stressful life events to navigate. Many times, our friends and family can be there to help in the immediate aftermath, but what happens when the feelings of isolation and loneliness persist long after the phone stops ringing? I can help negotiate these confusing and complicated feelings providing a supportive environment where you can be reminded of God’s great love for you.
Depression and anxiety are currently the most common mental health concerns in our culture. These conditions can be devastating because they often influence relational and occupational functioning, and even interfere with one’s physical well-being. Mood disorders often reflect enduring patterns of thinking and are difficult to change by will power alone. I treat depression and anxiety with sound spiritual and psychological principles.
God created us for relationship. Unfortunately, unresolved conflict often undermines the joy that we might experience in our interactions with one another. In meaningful relationships, conflict is unavoidable. When managed biblically, conflict can operate as a catalyst for change. I can help individuals navigate interpersonal conflicts by cultivating mutual respect, and other qualities that promote healing and reconciliation.
I offer professional, personalized and comprehensive faith-based counseling and restorative solutions for individuals and families impacted by addictions. Services include individual counseling for the addict, family counseling and interventions.
I seek to help the addict and their family to:
• Understand the nature of addictions
• Learn coping skills to achieve lasting sobriety and make good decisions
• Establish a working relationship with Social Services and healthcare providers
• Pursue spiritual growth and development.
Addiction is prevalent in our society today. The shame associated with addiction often keeps the addict from seeking help. True victory and lasting sobriety are possible! I help individuals and their families find lasting freedom from chemical addiction and a healthier lifestyle that conforms to God’s design.
Abuse and Trauma
Many have experienced emotional wounding through verbal, physical, or sexual abuse. Distress associated with abuse is not typically something that heals with time. Victims of abuse frequently carry the effects of such trauma throughout their lives and it affects the way they experience themselves and their relationships. I work with individuals, couples, and families to claim the healing and wholeness that is available through Christ.
My mission is to provide professional counseling within a Christ-centered framework that provide an environment that is safe and allows for emotions to be expressed without fear. It is my sincere desire that the client knows they will be respected, heard and assured of GOD's love; the heart of compassion and knowledge of true acceptance will be experienced and felt; and hope will replace shame. I believe that God wants to restore every part of our lives including our relationships. My purpose is to help people come to know the life God intended for them.
I received my master’s Degree in Counseling from Webster University, my bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Saint Leo University and my Associate of Science Degree in Human Services from Daytona Beach Community College.
I believe therapy should offer a safe place of acceptance, compassion, understanding, and exploration. I desire to meet my clients just as they are and walk with them from a place of hurt, frustration, or confusion to a place of understanding, healing, and wholeness.
I use a variety of approaches designed to meet the needs of each client, no matter age, gender or presenting issue. I have experience in working with clients in the areas of self-worth, addictions, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, life transitions, and marriage and family issues.
I have been married 50 years to the love of my life and we have a son and have had three daughters. We have 3 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 6 great grandchildren. I enjoy a good cup of tea with friends, camping, fishing reading, and beach and mountain vacations.
