Frequently Asked Questions

How do I FIND A COUNSELOR?

We have made this simple for you. Simply go to FIND A COUNSELOR and you can begin your search by browsing through the categories and lists or you can search by city, name, or zip. This directory does not provide recommendations as to a counselor’s competence or level of Christian integration in their counseling, but simply information which counselors and pastors can use in making decisions about possible referrals.  Therefore, the South Florida Association of Christian Counselors assumes no responsibility for counseling done by the individuals listed in this directory.

Who is the SFACC? The purpose of the South Florida Association of Christian Counselors is to glorify God and serve others by helping pastors, Christians, and mental health professionals find professional Christian counselors who offer counseling services in specific areas (e.g., marital counseling, family counseling, substance abuse counseling, etc.). To this end the SFACC provides an online referral network of Christian mental health providers. SFACC offers opportunities for members to participate in continuing education that is consistent with a Christian worldview, a forum for dialogue about how the mental health community can better serve the Body of Christ.  SFACC also looks for community wide initiatives that will encourage churches and therapists to work together to impact South Florida.

What if there’s a counselor I know who is not an SFACC member?  If you are a pastor or lay leader we ask that you refer your people to us. SFACC is a network of licensed counselors designed specifically to help people throughout South Florida get the necessary help they need with a Christian worldview.

How does the Events Calendar work?

The purpose of this Events calendar is to inform pastors, mental health professionals, affiliate members of SFACC, and other interested persons of events that integrate the Christian faith with some aspect of individual, marital, or family counseling. Events may be psycho-educational or enrichment presentations and programs aimed at preventive mental health issues. Events should target specific counseling areas and be presented by counselors from a private or group practice with a specific focus.

Do your events cost money?
SFACC events are usually free, but may occasionally include an admission cost, which will be posted.

Is there a way for me to receive Continuing Education Units? CEUs do have a cost for non-SFACC members, but are free to SFACC members.  Costs for non-SFACC events will have a cost specified if there is one, and there may be an additional cost for CEUs. (This is reason enough to become a member!)

What do I need to do to get an event posted onto the SFACC Calendar?

If you have an event that you would like to have listed on this page, it must include an integrative Christian component and be related to either counseling or enrichment.
